& I met up at Dublin airport at about 11 on Friday morning, and
after checking in, joined the ridiculously long queue to get through
security…that became a bit of a theme for the weekend! :rolls eyes:
We got to the Thistle at about 3pm, but registration didn’t
start till 5pm. There wasn’t much going on on Friday other than the
meet and greet, but we didn’t have tickets for that.
Saturday started, well…late. We were in a Q for about 20 minutes or so
waiting for the hall to open. There was a minute’s silence for
Armistice Day.
Before lunch Peter Fleming, Doug Abrahams,
Obi Ndefo, and Bill Dow, were on (I think in that order), but they
only had about 20 mins each to talk, which flew by so quickly. It
was the first con for PF and ON, and I think DA aswell.
PF
told us about a prank he played on his mates when he took a taxi,
pretended to be their driver & chased them (literally) for the
fare. He said he loved working with AT, and that it was great to
watch her work on Resurrection, directing, acting and still being
warm & friendly to everyone.
DA came out preaching
Origin (!). He reckons the Ori would kick the Wraith’s ass (he’s
probably right…but what the Wraith make of the Priors? White meat…?)
He mentioned that the markings on the Prior’s faces are an sort of
an indication of rank – the more they had, the higher up they were –
he wasn’t sure if this was apparent onscreen, but now they may not
get a chance to go into it.
ON asked us to teach him some of
the con dances, and he was taught Doctor Who on Saturday! He said he
hasn’t taken anything home from the Stargate set, but he did take
his Klingon teeth from DS9.
BD originally auditioned for
Walter! He talked about filming Evolution, how he had to stay
underwater so that the audience thought he wasn’t make it after
Daniel got out. He’s never taken anything home from set, except Dr.
Lee’s glasses, thinking they were his own!
(I might be
mixing up stuff that was said on Sat with stuff that was said on
Sun, but I promise it was said!!)
Then we had lunch, when
we met up with GateBee & Somnium. It was so nice to see you
again! And I’m sorry I had to run out for so long, but it was for a
good reason!
Teryl was on after lunch. She
mentioned she hasn’t seen Heroes yet. She also said That she &
MS tried to put more Janet/Daniel into Ripple Effect, but she’s not
sure how well it showed through. Teryl is such a great guest, she’s
so much fun! She kept coming down into the crowds for people to ask
her questions. It’s only the second time I’ve seen her at a con, but
I can’t wait for the next one!
Then Paul came onstage…in a
kilt. He claimed that he’s a true Scotsman, and
when Teryl came out a few minutes later to check, she gave us two
thumbs up
Someone asked Paul if he ever got
embarrassed when people told him how hot he was…he went red and said
yes
He does a great impression of Joe
Flanigan He said a couple of times how fond he is of
Scotland. Apparently in the early days someone suggested Carson have
a Celtic or Rangers flag in his quarters, but they thought better of
it, and he has a Scottish flag and scarf there, though Paul wasn’t
sure if it had been onscreen. (I don’t remember if I’ve seen it
there…) He kept going between his own accent and the Scottish accent
(LOVE that accent )
The fancy dress competition was on
that night including some former-Wraith refugees who help Paul at
gunpoint, and a baby Jedi (the first of two small children that
Teryl tried to kidnap over the weekend ).
Teryl was on first on Sunday. She
got a bit scared after being asked if she was a kitchen utensil,
what would she be…(A whisk…) Someone asked who was the best kisser
of who she had kissed onscreen. She said RDA although it wasn’t
actually onscreen! She added that she’s never kissed MS, but Janet
has
Then she was asked which actors would
she like to kiss, one of the ones she said was Paul. To which he
later obliged.
Oh, and the kitchen utensil question was asked
to everyone after Teryl. Paul & DA said spatula, BD said stock
pot, PF said turkey baster (sp?) and ON said blender. Just so you
know.
As probably most people know by now, Paul was asked if
he had signed on for season 4. He said he wasn’t allowed to talk
about it until the ep aired, but that TPTB do listen to what the
fans say. He also said how much he appreciated the fans supporting
him and his character.
He asked us at one point if we knew
who RDA was, and everyone said no, lol!
Teryl came back for
a charity auction, when they auctioned some cool things for cancer
research, IIRC, including scripts & sides and a signed cap from
‘the other show’, as Teryl called it! Oh, and they performed some
medical malpractice...
During the afternoon, BD read us a
passage from Ulysses, and he read it very well…although I still
wouldn’t read the bloody thing. He reckons that science is a trial
and error process, and poor Dr. Lee is the one who makes the errors!
But he thinks that when he finally does get something right he’ll do
a dance.
PF mentioned two projects he’s worked
on that he’s proud of, one called Barbeque Love Story and another
called Gold Rush with Alyssa Milano. Someone told him that his
nickname online was agent cutie-pie, which he seemed quite pleased
about
Oh – and he sang and took his shirt
off on request
DA was told that after PF’s cutie pie
nickname, he was now being called ‘rhubarb pie’ (!) He really likes
playing bad guys cos they’re so much fun until they get killed!
ON wanted to learn another con dance, and he was taught the
Macarena. He said he enjoyed Raknor’s development from being someone
who wasn’t sure what he believed, to someone questioning the
‘establishment’ and found his own path with the rebellion, it
reflected a process that a lot of people go through.
Did not
take his shirt off on request.
There was a bit of a mad rush
for the autographs on Sunday evening because we were running late
for our plane – sorry about that Irish Chick!!
But the very
nice stewards let me go in through ahead of the queue because I had
a plane to catch, and I can’t thank them enough for that, because
there’s absolutely no way there would have been time to get them if
they hadn’t let me do that!
I had an absolute blast, the
guests were all fantastic, the dealers’ room was very bad for my
wallet, and I had a great time with Irish Chick, it was so cool to
be able to have a proper SG chat with someone! Thank you!
((((hugs))))
